SET 10 (TRIADS in A minor)

TRIADS

SET 5    SET 6    SET 7   SET 8   SET 9   SET 10

Instructions:-

This set contains 20 flash cards which include different chord types.   Simply choose the correct chord type from the buttons below the picture. The triads included are Major, Minor, Diminished, Augmented, 1st and 2nd inversions (below) If you would like to hear and compare the chords click here for the 4 below or here for the inversions.

  • Root chords have the root or key note in the bass or lowest position. In the C major triad above we have coloured this note red. Notice the 'shape' of the root triad (notes are positioned on the next nearest line or space).

  • In the 1st inversion of this triad the bass note (red C) is moved to the uppermost position of the chord (an octave higher) creating a 4th interval between G and C. Notice how this 'wider' interval reshapes the triad.

  • The 2nd inversion has the blue 'E' (the 3rd) at the top of the chord and now we have the wider interval at the lower part of the triad visually.
